The Belly Box Waist Pack is a one-of-a-kind essential piece of gear that allows the user to carry concealed across the waist or cross-body as a sling pack. We derived the name from a type of cartridge box worn on a waist belt by light infantry and dragoon soldiers during the American Revolution.
It is made of MIL-SPEC 500D nylon fabric that is DWR/TPU coated and waterproof YKK zippers to keep your contents protected from the elements. The interior walls are lined with plush loop Velcro for a soft touch and to add our modular hook-backed inserts. The rear of the bag is lightly padded with air/spacer mesh.
What really makes the Belly Box unique and modular is the rear kangaroo pocket. This allows many different configuration possibilities, such as carrying on a day hike, hunting, fishing, or "going hot" when the need arises. We kept a low profile with this type of waist pack so that it can be worn under jackets without too much printing or easily slipped into a backpack.
The Belly Box Waist Pack comes in two different sizes with some slight differences.
Medium: The medium version has an outer dimension of roughly 9.5" (W) x 6.5" (H) x 3" (D). The front exterior is slick with a zippered admin pocket and the rear kangaroo pocket can carry up to 2 mags with an insert.
Large: The large version has an outer dimension of roughly 11" (W) x 7" (H) x 3" (D). Laser-cut PALS/MOLLE slots cover the front admin pocket and the rear kangaroo pocket holds up to 3 mags with an insert.
Both the medium and large versions include side wings with a row of laser-cut PALS/MOLLE for hanging small pouches, such as our tourniquet pouch, Dirk Sheath, or other small accessories.
Underneath both versions, there is also another PALS/MOLLE row running horizontally for hanging water bottles, small rolled-up jackets/ponchos, knives, bear spray cans, etc.
A 1.5" webbing strap and buckle connects both sides and can be removed and swapped around to the other side for right or left-handed operation.
Each waist pack comes with a removable paracord retention system to adjust how far the pouch opens.
Hands down, the Belly Box is the most modular waist pack on the market.
